Mariko is a Filipino American artist and scenic designer from Southern California. She grew up loving art, film, and going to museums, and has always been intrigued by the specificity that goes into creating a world that acts as both a physical and emotional anchor to the story it helps tell.

Her work centers on creating environments that blur the boundary between visual art, design, and performance. Drawing from her interests in painting, sculpture, textiles, and materials, Mariko approaches scenic design through a tactile lens, prioritizing texture, material, and attention to detail. She strives to create spaces that feel tangible and alive, inviting audiences to believe in the physical world of the story.

She holds an M.F.A. in Scenic Design and a B.A. in Art and Drama from the University of California, Irvine.
